Brief Answers to Common Questions
Q: Will Medline sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before I share my idea or innovation?
A: No. Medline will only consider non-confidential information for its initial review of your submission. If we have interest in learning more after our initial review of a submission, we will contact you to discuss how to proceed.
Q: I have not yet filed a patent for my idea. Can I submit it?
A: Before you share your idea with Medline (or anyone else), we recommend you file a patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This is to protect both you and the person or company to whom you are disclosing your idea.
Q: I am looking for seed money to start my company. Does Medline fund start-ups?
A: Typically, Medline does not provide start-up funding for companies to develop their invention. However, we do have a number of ways we structure intellectual property agreements, some of which include investment in early product development.
Q: Where can I find information on how to patent my product?
A: The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office also has many tools and resources for inventors available on their website.
Q: How can I contact Medline about distributing my product?
A: If you have questions about distributing your product through Medline or are looking for a distribution agreement, you may contact us here for more information.
