Disaster Relief Agencies Receive Critical Response Gloves to Help with Ongoing Recovery Efforts Following Louisiana Flooding

Medline donation to help aid recovery in the months ahead

Mundelein, Ill., Sept. 6, 2016 – After experiencing what’s being called the worst natural disaster in the U.S. since Hurricane Sandy in 2012, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials say the catastrophic flooding in Louisiana is worse than originally thought. With over 100,000 homes damaged and 1,500 people still living in shelters, extensive efforts are now being focused on safely cleaning up.

Protecting residents, first responders, and personnel is critical during any recover effort. That’s why Medline, a global medical supplies company, has donated 120,000 Critical Response™ high visibility nitrile exam gloves to the American Red Cross. Because the gloves are specifically designed for emergency personnel who need advanced protection, tactile sensitivity and optimal grip when out in the elements, the gloves will be a much-needed item to help disaster relief teams.

“We are extremely grateful for Medline’s significant gift to aid in our disaster relief efforts in Louisiana. While many people are experiencing what is likely to be the worst days of their lives, it is heartwarming to have partners who have risen to the occasion with their generosity. Thank you, Medline, for being such a giving organization and wonderful partner of the American Red Cross,” says David Staszak, American Red Cross Chief Development Officer.

The Medline distribution center located in Covington, La. has also been doing its part to ensure customers continue to receive much-needed supplies during this crisis by coordinating with the company’s personal fleet and carrier partners.

“As recovery efforts grind on, the thoughts and prayers of the entire Medline family go out to all those affected by the historic flooding in Louisiana. Medline is committed to bringing healthcare organizations and workers crucial products during epidemics and natural disasters. As the water recedes, we hope this donation will aid in the months ahead,” says Francesca Olivier, corporate social responsibility manager, Medline. “
