New Distribution Partnership for Edward-Elmhurst Health’s Physician Offices Results in Cost Savings of 10 Percent

Medline offering high quality medical supplies and logistics solutions to enhance efficiencies for nearly 80 office sites

Mundelein, Ill., May 23, 2016 – Reducing medical supply costs is often part of a health system’s strategic plan, but a lack of visibility into product purchasing trends can put a hinder on standardization efforts. To enhance supply chain efficiencies at nearly 80 of its physician office sites, Edward-Elmhurst Health, one of the larger integrated health systems in Illinois, launched a three-year distribution partnership with Medline that has resulted in 10 percent cost savings.

“Before our partnership with Medline, we lacked insight into product purchasing trends. We knew a culture change was necessary in order to meet our financial goals, but could only do that with a dedicated distributor standing by our side who could help us navigate our supply chain,” said Eileen Miller, system purchasing manager for Edward-Elmhurst Health.

Medline provides health system physicians with a robust portfolio of products and logistic solutions through the partnership to enhance patient-care solutions and cost savings, including Point-of-Care Rapid Tests and hand hygiene supplies. Additionally, Medline implements product fairs to help the health system’s management team gain a better understanding on the types of products their physicians prefer. To help efficiently manage and control inventory, Medline and Edward-Elmhurst are also working together through a cloud-based materials management platform from Hybrent that offers the health system a visible view into their product inventory, contracts, pricing accuracy and invoicing.
