New Clinical Studies Demonstrate Medline’s Innovative Solutions to Chronic Wound Management

Company presents several new studies at SAWC supporting advanced products

Medline Industries, Inc. is presenting a number of new studies this week at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care and Wound Healing Society (SAWC/WHS) that demonstrate the company’s latest innovative wound care solutions. Held in Denver, Colo., SAWC/WHS is the premier interdisciplinary wound care program and is the largest annual gathering of wound care clinicians in the United States.

“Helping clinicians correctly and effectively care for wounds is our number-one goal,” said Margaret Falconio-West, BSN, RN, APN/CNS, CWOCN, DAPWCA, sr. vice president, clinical education for Medline. “At Medline, we believe the best way to do this is to constantly strive to develop the most innovative products and educational programs that address the needs of both the practitioner and patient. Conducting clinical studies that illustrate how the products work to improve wound care management is crucial to this process.”

Among the new studies Medline is presenting at SAWC/WHS this week are:

  • Use of Manuka Honey Dressing – Medline’s Therahoney® Gel, made from 100% Manuka medical grade honey, was shown to be highly effective in the moist wound management of patients with lower extremity wounds such as leg ulcers.
  • Use of 100% Collagen Dressing – Medline’s Puracol® Plus AG+ collagen scaffold dressings were shown to work in conjunction with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) to aid in wound management.
  • Use of Moisturizing Lotions with Micronutrients – Medline’s Remedy® with Phytoplex™ Nourishing Skin Cream was shown to be effective on patients with fragile skin.
  • Use of a Liquid Skin Protectant Formulated with a Cyanoacrylate-based Skin Barrier – Medline’s Marathon® liquid skin protectant, a cyanoacrylate-based skin barrier, was shown to protect skin around a tracheostomy.
  • The use of a Micronutrient Containing Skin Care Regime in Managing Periwound Skin Condition – Medline’s Remedy® with Phytoplex™ Hydrating Spray Cleanser with plant-derived nutrients was used to cleanse the skin. Z-Guard® Skin Protectant Paste was shown to protect the skin, which lead to improved skin condition of patients with compromised periwound skin.
